These terms govern your use of Murmelt, a client-side application that connects to Nostr relays. By using Murmelt, you agree to the following.
What Murmelt is
Murmelt is a client application — software that runs in your browser. It is not a service provider, a relay operator, or a hosting platform. Murmelt connects to Nostr relays chosen by you, and all message routing happens through those third-party relays. Murmelt itself does not store, route, or relay any messages, files, or calls.
Your account and keys
Your identity in Murmelt is a cryptographic key pair generated locally on your device. Your private key never leaves your device except when you explicitly export it. You are solely responsible for keeping your private key safe. If you lose it, your identity cannot be recovered.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Murmelt to harass, threaten, or harm others, to send spam or malicious content, or to violate any applicable law. You are responsible for your own content and conduct.
Relays and third parties
Murmelt connects to Nostr relays operated by third parties. Each relay has its own terms, policies, and moderation practices. Murmelt is not responsible for the availability, reliability, or content policies of any relay. File attachments are uploaded to Blossom servers, which are also third-party services you choose.
Calls
Voice and video calls use WebRTC and run peer-to-peer between participants. The signaling (setting up the call) happens through Nostr relays, but the media stream itself flows directly between devices. Murmelt does not route or record call media.
No warranty
Murmelt is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The app may change or stop working at any time. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Murmelt.
Changes
These terms may be updated over time. Continued use of Murmelt after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
